Winterthur old town

Car-free streets, cobblestones and picturesque houses with charming architecture, original residents and an adventurous history: on the tour through Winterthur's old town you will discover unknown and surprising things. You climb 208 steep steps to reach the platform of the north tower of the city church at a height of 50 meters. A climb that is a special privilege and is rewarded with a breathtaking view over the beautiful old town of Winterthur.

Art Museum

In 2018, the Kunstmuseum, Museum Oskar Reinhart and Villa Flora merged to form the Kunst Museum Winterthur and put together an excellent collection. In terms of content, the museum maintains its traditions, the exchange between the collections and presents these in changing constellations.

Winterthur Theater

With 800 seats, the Theater Winterthur is the largest guest theater in Switzerland with its own international program. It puts on over 150 performances per year in the genres of musical theatre, drama and ballet/dance. The Theater Winterthur shows international stage productions of high artistic quality and thus also a cross-section of current theater work from important European theaters.

Casino theater

The casino theater is unique in Switzerland: the operators around landlord Viktor Giacobbo are all well-known personalities from the national showbiz who have transformed the once very dilapidated building into a jewel beyond compare. Since opening, the Casino Theater has become the heart of the Swiss comedy scene.

Rhine Falls

Standing high above the largest waterfall in Europe and feeling the roar of the water all over your body - that's what you can do at the northernmost point of the Winterthur region at the Rhine Falls near Schaffhausen. Over 15 years ago, the Rhine was pushed into a new river bed by Ice Age earth movements. The Rhine Falls were created on the border between hard limestone and soft gravel. Every second, several hundred cubic meters of water thunder down 000 meters over a width of 150 meters.

Zurich wine country

For once out of the city and into nature. Nature lovers, connoisseurs and sporty people alike will get their money's worth in the Zurich wine country. Here you can really switch off from everyday life and immerse yourself in the beautiful floodplain landscapes, admire historic timber-framed villages or explore the beautifully maintained cultural landscape with the longest continuous vineyard in the canton of Zurich.

Toesstal

The Töss Valley is characterized by densely wooded hills, steep valleys and streams that flow into the river Töss, which gives it its name. The abundant water and the large gradients promoted the use of hydropower and thus the development of Winterthur into a textile stronghold - today the Neuthal Textile and Industrial Culture Museum still houses the most complete textile industrial ensemble in Europe.

Kyburg Castle

Just the sight of palaces and fortresses usually has something mystical about them. At least that's what happens to most visitors to the Kyburg, which sits 150 meters above the Töss outside Winterthur. It is probably the best-preserved feudal castle in northeastern Switzerland. Both the Kyburg counts and the Habsburg rulers lived there.
